Your stay gives back to the prairie. Wandering Buffalo Hotel and Lodge is proud to donate 1% of all profits to American Prairie, a Bozeman-based nonprofit working to build and rewild one of the largest nature reserves in the continental United States. American Prairie is restoring native wildlife, expanding public access, and helping shape a bold new vision for the American West—one that supports both people and the land we share.
The reserve is home to two sizable herds of bison—iconic animals that once numbered in the millions across the Great Plains. Driven to near extinction in the 1800s, bison are now considered “near threatened” and “ecologically extinct,” meaning they no longer fulfill their historic role in shaping prairie ecosystems. American Prairie is changing that—bringing bison back to the landscape where they belong.
We invite you to explore the prairie during your stay in Montana. Open to the public and full of opportunities for recreation, discovery, and connection, it’s a place where the past and future of the American West come alive.
